In 1996, a pair of lunatics named Dan Schulz and Scott Wirkus started a harassment campaign against me, detailed here. This involved such activities, with the aid of a gang called the "Phreak Army," as falsely subscribing me to mailing lists, threatening my life, disrupting newsgroups that I posted to, harassing my mother, and impersonating me while making harassing telephone calls to random strangers. Most of this activity came to an end in 2001 with the collapse of eyada.com. However, I have gotten a few emails indicating that Schulz still obsesses with me, perhaps only when he's in the depths of whatever depths he's sunk into. I've mostly ignored them. But today I received a clear threat, allegedly from "the Phreaks." The sender could be some kid whom he bribed with the title of "General" in his "army," but it's reasonable to assume the threat was sent at Schulz's instigation. The mail came from dropzone69@Safe-mail.net (James), tapuz.safe-mail.net [213.8.161.230], probably a throwaway account. It states:
OK Bubba,
The Phreaks are back and we're tired of you badmouthing Grandmaster Schulz. So we're going to give you one final chance - send the following by return:
"I Gary Mcgath, repent of my sins and humbly beg admittance into the Worldwide Brotherhood of Pheaks."
This is your last chance Gary, join us today.
Regards,
General Accident (3 Stars)
A second message from the same address states:
.....call your mother. We had such a lovely chat the other day about you. [Ellipses in the original, nothing omitted]
So far Schulz hasn't engaged in any attempts to physically harm me, but there's no telling with a lunatic whose obsession has spanned over a decade. Even if he's down to just an occasional fit such as these, he could still be dangerous to people.
